What do you do in your role at The Next Step?
As the technical writer and SEO expert for The Next Step Inc., I focus on producing content to help increase our clients' visibility. From SEO optimization to blog post creation, I generate leads and position sites for our clients. I also am knowledgeable in manual creation and am constantly looking for ways to improve.
How/when did you first become interested in this type of work?
Even since I was a kid, I have always had a pencil on the page. It wasn’t until college, however, that I learned the influence writing could have. I was immediately intrigued with the idea and have since studied how to craft writing with the intent of boosting clicks and sales. With the guidance of the team, my understanding of language only continues to grow.
What aspect of your job brings you the most satisfaction?
Seeing my writing displayed on a company’s website or socials, and generating results, is always a thrill for me. I get excited to see my piece of the final product. Understanding the influence each word will have always gives me a sort of ‘mastermind’ feeling that is admittedly quite rewarding.
If you have a pet, what do you most enjoy about them?
My cat Porkchop is the king of lounging. Nearly nothing brings me more happiness than seeing Porky plop down and appreciate a fresh cardboard box I have bestowed upon him.
How do you like to spend your free time
On my off days, you’re likely to find me out under the sun (at least when it’s above freezing here in Minnesota). Whether I’m disc golfing with friends or hiking to a secluded camp, I find no greater peace than being outside. I have backpacked all over the U.S. and I hope to someday say the same about the world.
