What do you do in your role at The Next Step?
As a team member at The Next Step, I lead our internal HR, Finance, IT and Engineering teams by driving empowerment, efficiencies, and development. I am also a senior consultant who helps business leaders create strategy, drive culture and work thru growth challenges.
How/when did you first become interested in this type of work?
I saw the potential to help a greater number of companies and people experience what it is like to work in an environment of empowerment, focus, growth, and accountability. This role allows to me to help others see that it is possible to have a culture with all these aspects and most importantly see the results of a team and what they can accomplish.
What aspect of your job brings you the most satisfaction?
People winning! Satisfaction comes from seeing a team of people accomplish what they thought they couldn’t. Everyone loves the underdog success story. Taking on a challenge, meaning something new or with a large degree of difficulty is also very rewarding.
If you have a pet, what do you most enjoy about them?
I have two black Australian Labradoodles, Jax and Evie. They are the calming Zen to my work life balance. I enjoy the randomness of their walking, the sheer joy they exhibit every time they see me, and when the cuddle up at night to just chill.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I have two daughters who keep me very busy. One is a competitive dancer and the other a basketball player. So, most nights I feel like an Uber driver. But it is all worth it when I can watch them perform. I am also lucky enough to be able to coach my daughter’s basketball team. When not at either of those activities our family likes to camp and golf.
