What do you do in your role at The Next Step?
I am a marketing generalist, which is a fancy way of saying that I have a broad set of skills and experiences connected to communications. My love of learning helps me intentionally cultivate complementary skills of writing, graphic design, and usability.
How/when did you first become interested in this type of work?
Since I learned to read, written words have always seemed to have their own kind of magic. Additionally, I had an affinity for scissors, glue, and a stack of scrap paper. Looking back, it seems obvious that I would find a career where I could blend the two.
What aspect of your job brings you the most satisfaction?
I love brainstorming and idea generation. I also enjoy to solving problems through good writing and design. I firmly believe that good, usable design can have a powerful, positive impact on people’s lives.
What unusual, non-work-related skills do you possess?
I have volunteered as a basketball, volleyball, or softball coach at different times throughout my life. In fact, I took a course in officiating basketball to become a referee.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I am an avid reader who loves to share and receive book recommendations. I also scrapbook and always have a project or two going in my craft room.
